In the tradition of PC Turnoff Week (in June) and TV Turnoff Week (in April) comes Shutdown Day (March 24), a challenge to turn off your computer for the day. Boy, the calendar is really filling up. The site is a bit lacking in details on who's behind this, but they do have a blog, a forum, and YouTube promo videos.
Would you go for "Don't Read Day" or "Take Off Your Glasses So You Can;t Read a Thing Day" in order to emphasize the need to connect to the people around you?

Good point. Campaigns like this have a tendency to annoy more people than they might help. It's a bit patronizing to say: if only you turn off your PC you'll learn... Most people are smart enough to realize the issues here on their own. I think PC turnoff week and TV turnoff week (and Buy Nothing day) do a better job of trying to foster discussion, particularly amongst families, and by sponsoring alternative events.

Wow!i love this discussion of shutting down technology and actually utilizing our minds fir just a day. I believe that we have lost out sense of natural thinking. We have the radio, television and computers, etc. to think for us. Our forefathers have been and will always be the originators of how we think today. It's simply because they took the time to think with original thoughts(not with technologies help)! So let's all practice for atleast a day to shutdown technology and think. Yes, just think. I also feel as if we will be free from stressing, anxiety and everything else that makes us crippled. Sit in silence and think. let your mind free. And the rest will follow.

Ask yourself a quetion! Who am i letting control my mind? We don't realize it though there are other people's thoughts controlling our thoughts. That goes back to the saying, ''If YOU don't stand for something then you'll likely fall for anything.'' So shut down technology and not the posetive mentality!
