This is an award-winning commercial from Telecom Italia in which we see Gandhi sit himself down in front of a webcam, followed by his image projected onto all sorts of video screens. The tagline: "Imagine the world today if he could have communicated like this." Sigh.

Of course this is not the first company to abuse Gandhi by using him in a TV commercial. I believe that honor goes to Apple, back in the "Think Different" days.
Funny that you mention that commercial. I stand next to this this poster http://www.flickr.com/photos/44543208@N00 for eight hours a day! Yeah. I feel kinda funny about the Apple / Gandhi connection. I get the feeling he wouldn't be too into iPods. He might like Apple's forthcoming "Time Machine" back-up application though.

I have a print of the Jim Henson/Kermit "Think Different" poster. Poor Kermit has since slipped much further, like with the GM greenwashing ads.
